INTERLOK..INTERLOK..INTERLOK..

Interlok is an issue that is greatly being debated now. The author Datuk Abdullah Hussain is a well respected literary figure and also a national laureate and a very distinguished and talented writer and I’m certain his work is a matter of perception and imagination which is the cornerstone of any great literary work.

After perusing the book I found many positives, the language was succinct and the description of life in the pre independence era was charming. The plot too was very heart wrenching and shows the struggles of a young nation on its way to independence.

However certain parts of the books might not be suitable for young minds who would have a problem with distinguishing fact from fiction and history and “His”(author) story.

For this reason, I agree with the opinion presented by the special committee who represented MIC who met the Deputy Education Minister and also stand by the decision made by our Party President Dato' G Palanivel.

I would like to ask the government to devise a way where all parties can win, the children should be exposed to a great literacy work but not something that may induce them to misunderstand the rich past of our multi racial country.

I’m sure the Barisan Nasional government will address the issue in the true spirit of nation building which has led to our country being such a beacon of peace and tolerance.

if the issue is to be addressed by the BN govt happens earlier...it would not prolong to this extent now....why in the first place they have to approve this book when it is so provocative and creates unhappiness for the community???....and you MIC people are still soft on this!!!!

well mr.anonymous well i do agree there is certain individuals who is more concern on their rice bowl rather than Indian community, well i believe even you yourself is more concern about your own rice bowls and your own affairs rather than standing out in the ground and fight for the community, because individuals comes first to all of us, but its a wrong statement to point fingers in common to others or MIC telling nothing is being done to the community, if nothing is done i do not think so you will have such rights to say such statement in this blog.. be rational rather being emotional sir, actions is being taken, weaknesses is being rectified... there is ppl who is actually fighting for our Indians out there which you and me do not know actually,

YB, the novel should have not been selected at the first place because it hurts the sentiments of many malaysians. You agree with me or not?? But instead this novel was choosen by our gov and now many headmasters. teachers have used the 'P' word in schools. This novel should be removed and replaced with another novel. Removing the controversial paragraph alone is not enough. You agree with me or not??? Our Indian students are under great mental stress.
